Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek – 14 days
Embark on our amazing Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja la Pass Trekking that takes you to the famous Langtang region and the Ganja La pass(5,122m/16,800 ft). Moreover, we also make an interesting excursion to TserkoRi (5,000m/16,404ft) which offers tremendous view of the Langtang Himalaya range. The attraction of the Langtang region is that it’s so close to Kathmandu and yet it’s as wild as any Tibetan highlands. Langtang region is also famous for its Gosaikunda Lakes. Moreover, the company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of most diverse treks near Kathmandu. The people living in the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly the Nepalese, being the descendant of the Tibetan origin, they still look like Tibetans.
We start the adventure with a day bus ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The trek begins from Syabrubesi via the KanyanjingGompa, crosses the mighty Ganja La pass, and ends at the MelamchiPul Bazar in the Helambu region. Toward the end of the trip, you will also trek through some beautiful rice terraces and a number of splendid Buddhist monasteries around the delightful villages of TarkeGyang and Sermathang before heading back to Kathmandu.

Day 14: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative fromMystic KailashAdventurePvt. Ltd. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc), pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mystic KailashAdventure Pvt. Ltd. display board at the arrival gate. You will be then taken to your hotel. After check in, you will visit Mystic KailashAdventure Pvt. Ltd. office, meet your trekking guide as well as other participants. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by our company where you will be served excellent authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture.Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Preparation for the Trek
Today after breakfast, we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of PashupatiNath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (SwayambhuNath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath). In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items as you will be leaving for the Himalayas tomorrow.Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft), 145 km/ 7 hrs
After morning breakfast, we drive out along the north western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. We will ake Lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further journey to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi.Overnight stay in Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft), 6 hrs
This is our first day of trekking today.We follow the LangtangKhola River, pass through the dense forests. We cross several suspension bridges and also pass by a tea houses. The trail goes up and down but it’s not that challenging.Overnight in Lama Hotel.
Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village (3,430m/11,253ft), 6-7 hrs
Today after breakfast, we start our trekking towards the village of Mundu. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of LangtangLirung. On the way to Mundu, you will also pass through the Langtang Village, which was severely affected by the earthquake in 2015 A.D. Langtang Valley alone lost 400 lives, flooded away by an earthquake-triggered avalanche, destroying an entire village and infrastructures. We also see the ruins of Langtang Village where life is slowing building back and a few tea houses are reopened.Overnight stay in Mundu.
Day 06: Trek to KyangjinGompa (3,870m/12,697ft), 3 hrs and Explore the area
After breakfast, we will start our journey to KyangjinGompa, a principal monastery of the region. You will pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Also, we pass the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. After the short trek, you will spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the buddhist shrine and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.Overnight stay in KyangjinGompa.
Day 07: Acclimatization and Explore TserkoRi (5,000m/16,404ft), 7-8 hrs
After taking morning tea and breakfast,we get out of the village and pass on through yak pastures and start for visiting to TserkoRi(5,000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. Since, we are really getting into the high altitude, you might start feeling the thin air. In the afternoon, we return to KanjinGompa which is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around KanjinGompa enjoying the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.Overnight stay in KyangjinGompa.
Day 08: Trek to Ganja La phedi (4,300m/14,104 ft), 5-6 hrs
After taking today’s breakfast, we embark on our journey to Ganja La Phedi and cross the Langtangriver. We ascend through rhododendron forests. The time for getting to our destination also depends upon the season of the trek. During the winter snow, it might take longer time to cross the snow strewn path.Overnight stay in Ganja La phedi.
Day 09: Cross the Ganja La pass(5,122m/16,800 ft) and Trek to Keldang (4,250m/13,940ft), 6/7 hrs
Today, we cross the Ganja La pass. It’d be a strenuous day since Ganja La is one of the difficult passes. Ganja la pass is covered with snow almost throughout the year. We make a long ascent through the boulders, pass the small lakes, and summit the Ganja La which situated on a rocky moraine. You can enjoy the spectacular views from the pass. Climbing up and down the pass can sometimes be tricky due to snowfall and ice. From the pass, we descend down to Keldang.Overnight stay in Keldang.
Day 10: Trek to Yak Kharka (4,000m/13,120ft), 5/6 hrs
Today, we trek towards Yak Kharka. From Keldang, we descend further down following a prominent ridge line. In our 5-6 hrs treks, we continue losing our altitude through forests, ridges, and grasslands.Overnight stay in Yak Kharka.
Day 11: Trek to TarkeGyang (2,590m/8,497ft), 5/6 hrs
Today, we lose altitude considerably about 1500 meters. The trail would be similar, except that as you descend lower, you will notice more vegetation.
Day 12: Trek to Sermathang (2,610m/8,563ft), 3/4 hrs
We cross small forest with the view of beautiful village of Helembu region. The trail makes a sweepwak around the wide valley end between Parachin and the pretty Sharpa village of Gangyul. The people of this village practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism, the same as the national religion of Bhutan.Overnight stay in Sermathang.
Day 13: Trek to MelamchiPul Bazaar (3/4 hrs trek) and Drive to Kathmandu (2 hrs drive)
On our final day of the trek, we walk down to MelamchiPul Bazaar with many Sherpa village. From the Bazaar, we catch a bus to Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of our journey, we will have a farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Day 14: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Today, the journey comes to an end. There’s nothing to do but trade emails with your new friends, organize all your photos and finally depart from Nepal. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination. Or you can get ready for the next adventure.
