Personalized adventures
Mt. Annapurna (8,091m) is the 10th highest mountain in the world and the journey to its base camp is one of the most popular treks on earth. Like any other trip in the Annapurna region, our Annapurna Base Camp Trek also begins in Pokhara, widely known as the ‘Lake City’ and passes through cascading waterfalls, beautiful villages, terraced farmlands, lush rhododendron forests, and amazing mountain vistas before reaching the base of the mighty Annapurna.
This trek passes through a more diverse range of climate, vegetation and cultures that many small countries cannot boast about. From lush vegetation of rain and temperate forests to the terraced rice fields, the journey takes you different kinds land and people every day. In fact, the changes occur so frequently that the trekkers get to experience a tantalizing introduction to Nepal’s cultural and natural diversity at its best. Not consisting exceedingly difficult trails, the trek begins from Pokhara and the first portion passes through lush green hills typically found in the heartland of Nepal. You will be passing through plenty of villages along the way. Tiny thatched roofed houses, set among the terraced fields, make an attractive picture with the backdrop of the magnificent snowy range of Annapurna, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri including the most majestic peak of all the Himalayan range, Machapuchhre (Fishtail).
The Annapurna area was first explored by British Adventurer Col. James Owen Merion Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. The region has been christened as “Annapurna Sanctuary”. Our 15 day adventure trip to the Annapurna Sanctuary starts from Pokhara, a scenic spot. The trek combines spectacular mountain scenery with incredible cultural diversity and traverses through rural farms and villages. The trail runs deep towards the gorge between peaks Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre, through the dense rain and bamboo forest of the narrow ModiKhola (river) valley and then to the sanctuary with immense walls of the mountain fortress. Once you enter the Sanctuary, you will be surrounded by the Amphitheater of peaks of Annapurna (26,545ft/8,091m). Other major peaks overlooking the sanctuary include the Annapurna south (23,693ft/7,219m), Gangapurna (24,457ft/7,455m) and Annapurna III (24,787ft/7,555m). This area is also referred to as the Annapurna Base Camp and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Base Camp. Our return journey descends through the lush terraced ModiKhola valley concluding the adventure in Pokhara, a popular destination with its famed Phewa Lake, dominated by the towering mountain range of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu range including the majestic peak Machhapuchhre (Fishtail)
